• Topics: Tensors and tensor fields, strain and stress fields, shear strain,
  general elasticity theory, waves in elastic media, plasticity models,
  thermo-elasticity, multi-dimensional theories, discrete models as
  generalized solutions of continuum equations, review of modern
  discrete-continuous models, hybrid discrete-continuous models, Newtonian
  and non-Newtonian fluids, granular and multiphase materials, composite
  materials: the cases of high-concentrated and diluted materials.
• Objectives: During this course the basic classical elasticity, plasticity
  and thermo-elasticity principles will be presented at first. The second
  part of the course will introduce novel hybrid discrete-continuum models
  of solids.
